Artist statement
Jessica Alazraki Artist Statement 2025 My paintings radiate warmth-the kind that you feel at a family gathering, where voices overlap, hands pass dishes, and love is found in the simplest gestures. My work is a celebration of home, but not as a fixed place. Home is an emotion, a shared glance, the laughter of those who speak your language, the ache of nostalgia. In my paintings, bright colors pulse with life, distorted perspectives create movement, and textured brush strokes invite you to step closer. I paint interiors rich with connection, where the ordinary is sacred, where a meal is not just food but an act of belonging. Though my figures are anonymous, their emotions are universal. I paint for those who have built new homes in unfamiliar cities, for those who long for what they left behind, for those who find comfort in the rituals of family and community. My paintings invite the viewer inward into the home by placing everything in the foreground.
