Artist statement
Jiajun Lyu was born in 1999 in Sanmenxia City, Henan Province. In 2018, I chose to leave the school I was studying at that time and go abroad for further study. In 2019, he was successfully admitted to Parsons School of Design, the number one school of design and art in the United States, specializing in the field of pure art. He has always been passionate about the interwoven exploration of painting and practice. He gradually turned from figure painting to abstract art. Since 2022, Jiajun Lyu has studied deeply through his Taoist background and started to create works through the theme of meditation. And make it the focus of ongoing exploration. Because his family is deeply influenced by Taoist culture, his themes are all about the connotation of Taoist culture. It mainly focuses on the relationship between human and nature and the spirit of "non-action" in Taoism. In his works, both numbers and words are defined by him as "symbols" so as to express the relationship between self, nature and the universe. These elements are also the key to becoming a work. At the same time, it also has a strong academic character behind it, which not only brings the artist himself but also brings deep thinking to the audience.
