Lives and works in New York, NY
Artist statement
My current work explores the tension between the physical and the representational aspects of painting and their potential to express human experience. By depicting broad, dense and simplified forms, the paintings exude a sense of mass and weight. Vibrant colors express a sense of the joy of movement, sport and sex. Finally, the figures represented gather these qualities into a recognizable form, through which the viewer might empathize and feel in their own body.
