Lives and works in Chicago, IL, USA
Artist statement
Kasia Kay is a Polish-American artist based in Chicago, USA. She creates work using a wide range of materials, including metal, handmade paper, paints, clay, photography, and found objects. Her practice draws inspiration from a broad spectrum of sources, including personal narratives, cultural heritage, and the implications of history. She is often interested in introspective content and exploring the sense of identity. Kay believes in the importance of objects and their power to convey narratives, which is why working in sculpture resonates strongly with her. She rejects limitations in creativity and is open to diving into the unknown. For at least 18 years, Kasia Kay has been challenging conventional methods in the art world, both as an artist and an art curator, through interdisciplinary methods and exhibitions in public spaces. Kasia Kay has a BFA degree from Columbia College Chicago, where she studied curatorial practice and art criticism, ceramics, paper, and metal casting. She has attended several artist residencies and workshops, as well as completed several international curatorial programs in the U.S., Germany, and Italy.
