Lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, USA

Artist statement

I work across installation, sculpture and animation, using mixed media to construct domestic environments in the midst of transformation. Drawing on processes like petrification and calcification, I fuse architectural, bodily and geologic forms to imagine physical manifestations of our inner experiences. I think of my sculptures as abstracted figures overtaken by preternatural forces. They imagine our homes as porous and sponge-like, absorbing the residue of our lives and developing lives of their own. The accumulation of cells, crumbs and bodily fluids, imbued with anxiety, sadness or joy coalesces into growths that blur the line between architecture and the body. Drawing from mythology, science and horror tropes, my installations examine the cognitive dissonance of consuming external horrors from the (dis)comfort of our homes, mediated through screens. Animations are embedded in sculptures which occupy installations that are layered with light, sound and smell to create full sensory experiences.
