Artist statement

My work is a tribute to the strength, resilience, and emotional complexity of women. Raised by independent single mothers, I draw deep inspiration from the women who shaped my world and continue to motivate me to grow. I primarily work in oil to paint women's faces, layering them over acrylic backgrounds that frame and contrast their presence. I intentionally omit eyebrows from my portraits, creating an emotional ambiguity that invites viewers to pause and reflect. This absence challenges assumptions—asking people to look deeper, beyond the surface strength that women often wear, and to consider what may be hidden behind it. It's about empathy. I want people to feel the weight of what women carry, and the quiet power it takes to move through the world with grace. Through my art, I hope to create space for dialogue—about womanhood, about identity, and about the masks we wear to survive
