Artist statement

Kristin Meyers’ work is an embodiment of her ancestral language. In an interdisciplinary dialect of creating, embedded with rituals, where a gesture contains an entire world. She speaks from a history of the duality assimilating into a New World as a first-generation Italian, her voice dwells in the space between the place of her roots and where she resides. Expanding boundaries laced in contributions entwined in a cycles of life. A foundation in ancient antiquity and interest in mysteries and spiritual systems reinforce the powerfully bound woven energies she sculpts. In an elaborate process of collecting, fermenting, and binding perceived energies of human engagement with human strength without a traditional armature. Her sculptures are imbued with imagination and narratives synchronized to materials. Her work is often evocative in seeking to break confined parameters confronting secrets and truths in imaginative dichotomies of extremes toward divining precognitive forms ideas and concepts toward progress.
