Lives and works in New York, NY, USA
Artist statement
Bio: Kunjin Jiang is a multi-disciplinary artist with a BFA majoring in Drawing & Painting (Integrated Art) from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (China) in 2017. She likes spending time to notice some slight or sensitive things in life and present them in videos or installations. And she also does some public art to connect with her audiences and surroundings. She did four performance projects Can't Stop When It Begin (New York and Paris), Invisible Line (New York), My Faces (New York and Paris) in 2018 - 2019, and Nameless Land (New York) in August 2019. Artist statement: I rarely create work in a confined space, and my studio is more like a place for contemplation. Instinct experience, creating events, public communication, and feeling the present life around me are all important factors in my art work. I view things around me, and I long for spiritual and ideological freedom. My installations, photographs, videos and performances combine with different places to make an in-depth exploration on the significance of contemporary people’s existence in the spectacle life, and to further reveal that modern people put the nonessentials before the essentials in the spiritual pursuit in the spectacle life.
