Artist statement

I approach abstraction as a site of autonomy—detached from prescribed narratives, fixed bodies, and singular meaning. My work draws from textbook diagrams and schematic systems for their reductive clarity. These structures are destabilized: biomorphic symmetries dissolve into spatial compositions that prioritize embodied, first-person experience over detached observation. The paintings unfold through duration, oscillating between bodily and infinite space. Built through thin, matte layers of color, the work foregrounds chromatic interaction—overlaps generate new hues, enacting perception as contingent and relational. Exuberant, childlike color becomes a strategy of resistance, reconfiguring inherited systems of repression—sensory, psychological, and cultural—through abstraction.
