Artist statement
Laurens is an illustrator who, after graduating art school in 2014, decided to travel the world. He bought a one way ticket to Bangkok and from there an artistic journey started that led him through Asia, Australia and ended with a year in Spain. During his travels he got inspired by all the different cultures, landscapes and architecture he encountered which you can clearly see in his work. In August 2017 he decided to return to the Netherlands to get more serious about his illustrations. The drawings are very realistic and documentary and you can see he is influenced by the tattoo world. Using only pen and paper he creates higly detailed black and white drawings documenting the places he visited and things he is inspired by like skateboarding, music and nature.
