Lena Marie Emrich
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany
Artist statement
Emrich is drawn to life’s limbos: the interval before departure, the intimacy of a shared seat, the moment a reflection catches a body in passing. Working across sculpture, installation, performance and stage design, she brings artisanal techniques into contact with industrial processes and the visual language of the present. Throughout her work, time remains elusive but omnipresent, held for an instant in a gesture, a shadow or a form that never quite settles into balance. These moments leave room for tenderness and unease alike, asking what it means to come close to someone, to move on, or to let go.
