Artist statement
As an artist, I transform discarded textiles into vibrant textural artworks. By repurposing leftover fabrics, clothing scraps, and even discarded face masks, I create artwork that honors the history and beauty of textiles while addressing the pressing issue of textile waste. Inspired by the natural world and the urban landscape of Southern California, I draw inspiration from patterns, textures, and the cyclical nature of life and death. My intuitive approach uses sewing and quilting techniques and allows for a dynamic and organic process, resulting in visually striking and emotionally resonant pieces. Through my work, I aim to spark conversations about sustainability, creativity, and the interconnectedness of all things. By inviting collaboration and sharing stories, I hope to foster a deeper appreciation for the power of textiles to connect us to ourselves and to each other.
