Lives and works in New York City, NY

Artist statement

As painter and sculptor my aim is to imagine the potentials and the futilities of utopias, urban space and digital space and materialize it into a visual and physical experience. The project I am currently working on combines the notion of materiality, surface and representation in an ever advancing connected digital world. The speculation is that in future times we will be surrounded by microLED surface applied on architecture, furniture, plants etc, displaying images and moving images. Shapes, function and volume related to materiality are obsolete. Objects and material devoid of meaning can then be collaged back into new folly objects and paintings. For example when volume is reduced to an image, shadow and light become arbitrary, and can be used as manipulated ornamentation. Marble, when reduced to image, can interact with its frame and seemingly drip over and through it. If edges have become obsolete due to lost of volume, the ornamentation, normally found around doors and windows, can become an infinite sculpture that is put together in different shapes depending on the space (Ich bin auch eine Zeichnung).
