Artist statement
My work is process-oriented, an intuitive investigation of colour, materials and movement. Improvisation is also an important element. Not knowing the final outcome when I begin a piece enhances the creative impulse behind the work. Using recycled fabric from clothing found at thrift shops I serge knit fabric together before stretching it over a wooden frame. There is play in this work and deliberation. There is also play and tension in the fabric as the work shifts in the process of its making.
