Lives and works in New York, NY, USA

Artist statement

Working primarily with and through photography as a medium, tool, and language, I incorporate obsolete and antiquarian processes of image-making, including diazo printing (blueprint reprographics), cyanotypes, wet plate collodion process, and various types of expired instant films, exploring the material nature of image and image as material. Many of the resulting works have undergone interventions or translations, manually, digitally or both, to become something wholly different from their origin. From the omnipotent power of technology to frame the world and enclose it, I attempt to reopen and unfold these images within my images, rendering technology not merely a deterministic ends, but as a means to reveal a deeper and more poetic understanding of our world. The resulting artworks belong less to a stable vision of external reality than they are an investigation of the instability of our realities, the essence of a totality of spatiotemporal experiences, and the memories of which that inform our relationship to the places we inhabit.
