Lives and works in Rockwall, TX

Artist statement

My work explores the space between presence and disappearance, beauty and damage, identity and fracture. I am interested in the human figure not simply as a subject, but as a vessel for psychological states — isolation, vulnerability, resistance, memory, and transformation. In my figurative paintings, bodies and faces often appear obscured, winged, altered, or emotionally exposed. The image remains recognizable, but never fully resolved. I use ambiguity deliberately, allowing the figure to exist between portrait and symbol. My abstract works continue the same investigation through different means. Here, the figure recedes and is replaced by traces, ruptures, vertical structures, erasure, and unstable surfaces. What remains is not a person, but evidence of presence — a mark, a wound, a memory, a tension. Across both bodies of work, I am drawn to what cannot be easily named or explained. I do not seek to illustrate a fixed story. I prefer to leave the image open enough for the viewer to bring their own experience into it. Painting, for me, is a way of making the invisible condition of a person briefly visible.
