Artist statement

"I create different objects and events found within the domestic space that are manipulated to become surreal entities that emotionally inhabit space and yet do not physically occupy an area. In doing so, this decision is meant to act as a placeholder for anxiety or an emotional dimension. My work left off focusing on bringing awareness for those who our society overlooks, specifically over the issue of documents with those who find themselves to be Undocumented within the U.S. I'm interested in the evolution of ideas of home/place as our society continues to push the idea of safety with borders without admitting fault in past interference and disruptions within central and south America, as well as the U.S. Territories. My research continues with my interests in the practice of storytelling, the recording of experiences in a fashion closely related to a diary is something that is far from being complete for me within my work. It coincides with further understanding of a Lingua Franca, a universal language through aesthetics that helps bridge places of misunderstanding and brings awareness to the issues I speak of.
