Artist statement
I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves fluidly across sculpture, sound, textiles, digital media, and installation. At the center of my practice is an exploration of how vibration, resonance, and rhythm shape both the physical world and human experience. I see sound not only as something to be heard but as a force that can be seen, felt, and embodied. My identity is mixed black, white, and culturally Hispanic. This deeply informs my work. I am drawn to histories of resilience, hybridity, and cultural survival, and I use my art to make connections between personal identity and collective memory. By combining traditional craft with experimental technology, I create spaces that honor ancestral knowledge while also opening doors to future possibility. Presently, I am developing Music as Time: A Cymatic Journey Through Black History — an interdisciplinary exhibition that pairs an original concept album with sculptures, textiles, interactive installations, and digital works. Each piece translates sound frequencies into visual and tactile form, tracing a journey from African origins to contemporary struggles and visions of hope. This exhibition is both a culmination of my past explorations and a foundation for the future: I am committed to expanding this work into larger, immersive experiences that merge science, sound, and story to engage audiences in new ways of seeing and resonating with history. This work is not only a reflection, but also a call to action. By...
