Lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark

Artist statement

I am interested in exploring the underlying narratives that drive us as individuals. In my practice, I work with the idea that each person’s actions in society are like the constant erosion of a landscape by wind and sea. Our shared narratives are this landscape. Through our actions, we weather the bedrock; lakes and rivers form, and where the rivers run, cities, road networks, traffic lights, and centres of power emerge. Each time someone takes a liberty, our shared language and worldview shift slightly. Large and small actions leave traces in our collective narrative. Traces that we grow up with and retell. My practice and inspiration stem from the idea of this inner, shared, and changing landscape and my works are a result of my negotiation with our shared tracks. I try to make my images appear fleeting by drawing only the outline of an experience. I reduce them to a kind of “mathematical” equation, or a concentrated version of an image of reality. The starting point for an idea is often a fleeting thought or feeling. I search for a specific technique or materiality that can evoke the right qualities in my figurative forms and lead the viewer deeper into the image’s narrative and materialty.
