Artist statement
‘The answer is always more confusing than the question’ That was the undesirable but inescapable mantra of my thirties. Nothing made sense and the things that did failed to minimize my frustrations. Everything changed the moment I picked up a paintbrush. Painting provided a small escape with endless possibilities. A tangible medium of expression capable of transporting me somewhere new. The moment may be fleeting or it may last a lifetime but it provides an opportunity to disconnect, explore, answer, forget, fix. My art is intended to do the same for the viewer. Life is stressful and we all deserve a mental vacation. Forget about the questions and the answers...just enjoy being here. The richness of oils along with vibrant acrylics and pastels provide the best palate for my pieces. Layers, texture, intricate patterns, hidden found objects and 3 pronged crowns are present all of my art. Malcolm Whitney
