Artist statement

I am primarily a painter but work in numerous media including drawings, watercolors, prints, sculpture, and public art. I have always been interested in revealing aspects of reality usually not noticed. My work challenges the traditional idea of “Painting” as in the past I have done radically shaped, open frame (a shaped stretcher) paintings and many of the recent works include sculptural, three-dimensional aspects. I have recently completed a long series of works dealing with the Ten Plagues of Egypt from the Old Testament of the Bible. This has led to ten large paintings, 8 associated wood-cut print editions, numerous large watercolors and giclee prints, a large neon work and 4 sculptures. Some of my latest works relate to my extensive time spent in Italy. (Note: my Degree from Pratt is a BID, but that was not listed)
