Artist statement

The work of Maria- Magdalena Ianchis covers a broad spectrum of media that includes photography, video, sound, objects, space installation, performances, interactive projects, embroidery, and costumes. Her work is process-oriented, conceptualized, and carried out as an artistic research process. Her current works focus on anthropogenic climate change and its manifestation in the melting of our glaciers. Given the fatal economic, social, and ecological developments, any form of standing by passively and watching is called into question. The leitmotifs of her artistic exploration include phenomena that are not directly tangible physically, such as myths, legends, the world of dreams, and the inner world of human beings.
