Artist statement

My current oil on canvas practice is a series of “Unrelated Paintings”. After years of feeling that I must paint one thing I’ve accepted my varied vision. This new group has a few themes: Imagined landscapes, Paintings with pattern, Geometric compositions, Abstract and Representational works. For my acrylic works on paper practice, the following approaches are utilized: Memory based abstract landscapes, Abstract mark making and repetition in pattern, Stencils, which could be leaf outlines or a handmade stencil. One such stencil, ‘Flower motif in Pattern’ consists of four petals around a center dot, repeating petal to petal in grid formation. MP
