Artist statement

Markus Sworcik moves through sculpture, space, installation, digital—whatever fractures, whatever lingers. Found material, objects, fragments of memory, half-legible text, reconfigured surfaces. Material composition, encryption, deterritorialization—not as concepts but as things that happen, things that slip. Meaning isn’t the point; it scrambles itself, resists fixation, dissolves into an atmosphere rather than a statement. The work drifts between speculative futures and exhausted presents, where acceleration and stagnation coexist. Depression loops like a system glitch—too much, too fast, then nothing at all. Technology expands, reshapes, controls, while something human frays at the edges. Props without a script, language that folds in on itself. Objects hover between presence and escape, flickering between what is and what could be. A space where things refuse to settle, where traces remain, but certainty doesn’t. Maybe it means something, maybe it doesn’t. 05 08 2022 — 24 09 2022, Duo Show with Renè Stiegler: A terrible doorstop Stepping into a wasteland between the preposterous (1).
