Marlon Tabone

Lives and works in United Kingdom

Artist statement

Marlon Tabone (b. 1998, Victoria, Gozo; based in Cambridge) works across computational systems, installation, and digital media to question how societies construct, erase, and remake memory. His practice reimagines the monumental not as fixed form, but as fragile permanence—an unsettled space where technology, history, and politics remain in flux. Rooted in Maltese histories and the Mediterranean’s contested landscapes, Tabone’s works expose overlooked or silenced narratives of migration, colonialism, and unresolved political violence. By using generative processes and digital archives as living monuments, he resists static memorialisation and instead opens memory to recurrence, fragility, and transformation. Through installations, archives, and ephemeral interventions, Tabone creates encounters with memory as unstable and re-emerging—inviting reflection rather than closure. His practice unfolds at the intersection of personal inheritance and collective history, where technology becomes both witness and monument.
