Lives and works in Philadelphia, PA, USA

Artist statement

My narrative works are created as paintings and prints and most recently, steel sculptures. My paintings on metal surface connect to the folkloric art of retablos and my works on paper are created as drawings or monotypes, linocuts, serigraphs and offset lithographs. While some of my monotypes are created in my studio other works have been produced at notable printing studios. Two of the main printing studios I have worked with are Coronado Studio in Austin, Texas and The Brandywine Workshop and Archive in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Other places have been in universities such as Tyler School of Art in Rome, Denison University in Granville, Ohio and the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio. My printed suite, Transcendental Train yards is my largest edition of prints created, the edition of 50 has so far been collected by universities and museums in the United States as well as private collectors. Some of the collectors consist of The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, the Harvard University, The University of Notre Dame, the Mexican Museum and Cheech Marin. Of the fifty created only twenty are now available. This collection was also printed into a book of the same title and is a collaborative work with the poetry of poet and folklorist, Dr. Norma E. CantĂș. This suite was created to offer insight on the Mexican experience with the train yards, and insight into the creative process of visual and literary arts as Latina/Chicana artists...
