Artist statement

I work with experimental, abstract, and concrete photography. At the core of my artistic practice lies a desire to understand the nature of the medium on a deeper level. I approach my experiments in a way that resembles both scientific fundamental research and linguistic methodologies. My work is driven by an interest in the possibilities and limitations of the language of photography. I seek points of connection between photography and other media, with the aim of expanding the boundaries of the medium itself. I am particularly interested in what happens when photography steps beyond its traditional representational function and begins to operate as an autonomous field of investigation. The following questions guide my practice: – What is photography as an image? – What is photography as an object? – And what is photography as a process? In many cases, the process resembles a scientific experiment more than a conventional artistic act. The work essentially creates itself. I design and experiment with a process, defining its starting and end points, and in between, the artwork evolves organically. While the process is bounded by a predetermined framework, the result clearly belongs to the field of visual art, drawing on precedents from across its various branches.
