Artist statement

Often described as unworldly and godlike, I see the birds I create as kin to angels. Rather than mimicking nature, my palette and meticulous approach give the paintings an ethereal aura while their stature is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian sculpture. They are provocative, observant archetypal embodiments of The Divine that exist within the borderland between mystery and fantasy in their innate if elusive narrative. Although I primarily paint with acrylic on wood panel or paper, I am currently working on an untitled series of charcoal pieces to challenge myself with negative space instead of relying on color.
