Lives and works in Mexico City, Mexico

Artist statement

My work seeks to explore the tension between satire and authenticity, using humor to question representations, markets, and power structures. This multidisciplinary practice (sculpture, painting, video, performance, and stained glass) is rooted in a longstanding collaborative engagement with Wixárika artists and marginalized communities. Here, artisanal knowledge transcends exotic ornamentation to become a living archive of cultural resilience. Recently, my research has focused on the geometry of light in stained-glass panels, the theatricality of costume, and the concealment of the mask. These materialities challenge authenticity and the commodification of identity in contemporary art. Methodologically, the process draws on ethnology and psychoanalysis, conceiving the transmission of techniques and dissidence as a praxis of care. The work moves between European modernism and Mesoamerican cosmologies. Thus, my practice constitutes a liminal space where hegemonic structures are parodied and dismantled through collaborative action.
