Meg Kaczyk
Lives and works in Port Townsend, WA, USA
Artist statement
“Expressing a unique view of reality is the gift and imperative of the artist. Art conveys both personal and universal truth, and in this way is essential.” Meg Kaczyk began her creative career as an illustrator/designer in the Midwest. In 1982, seeking arts community, she moved west to Portland, OR and then to Port Townsend, WA. Over the years, the precision of graphic design played counterpoint to her painting, which emboldened the loose and fluid style of her work today. Kaczyk was Centrum Artist-in-Residence in May 2019, also leading a public discussion on “The Intersection of Art and the Environment”. Her work was featured at Phyllis Lamphere Gallery, Seattle Convention Center April-June 2019. In 2018, Kaczyk received a Juror Merit Award in “Perspectives on Landscape” at Northwind Arts Center. Kaczyk teaches at Port Townsend School of the Arts and is represented at Northwind Arts Center and Grover Gallery. Her current work is informed by a sense of place and appreciation for the environment. “My work expresses the splendid reality of living. Energy that runs deeply through us is presented in the emotion of line, color, texture and pattern – fluid experiences standing as frames of life.”
