Michael Zansky
Lives and works in West Nyack, NY, USA
Artist statement
Michael Zansky’s work often explores fragmented narratives and shifting meanings. Figures transform across panels, appearing mythic, grotesque, or dreamlike, while the surfaces themselves evoke deep time and psychological unrest. Zansky interrogates humanity’s cyclical history—darkness and delusion alternating with truth and illumination—while questioning the futility of comprehending an unpredictable universe. Zansky has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. Notable exhibitions include Deep in the Shadows at Herron Galleries, Indiana University, Indianapolis; A Vacation on Mars with God at Stefan Stux Gallery, New York; Giants and Dwarfs at MANA Contemporary Art, Jersey City, at the Ewing Gallery, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and at the Boca Raton, FL, Berry-Hill Galleries; Insomnia at the Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, MT, and again at the Ewing Gallery/University of Tennessee, Knoxville; Dance of the Cuckoos presented in Boca Raton, FL and at Hampden Gallery at UMASS Amherst; American Panopticon, shown at various locations, including Amherst, MA, Ice Box Gallery in New York, Gigantic Art Space at ARCO, and in Madrid, Spain at Universal Concepts Unlimited; The Reincarnation of Michael Vick (As a Dog) at Philadelphia, PA, Lab Gallery for installation and Performance Art; Strangelove at Nicholas Robinson Gallery in New York, NY; Western Lands, at New York, NY Gigantic Art Space; Still in Motion at Gallery Camino Real in New...
