Artist statement

Michele LeMaitre, the artist behind "The Water Artist", is celebrated for her work that represents chunks of water that have seemingly been scooped out of the ocean, pools or lakes and splashed onto the walls, in a controlled but fluid form. Based on Nantucket island, Michele hand sculpts, paints and layers pigments, creating two dimensional works, inviting audiences to experience the reflective surface of water through interactive modern art.
