Artist statement

Michelle Gallagher is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans various mediums, including drawing, sculpture, print, installation, and photography. Originally from Ireland and currently based in Germany, she trained at the Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD). Gallagher's artistic practice focuses on the exploration of female identity, intertwining personal experiences with broader themes related to women's roles in society. Through her work, she engages with historical narratives, objects, and mythology, creating a rich tapestry of stories that provoke thought on issues such as the natural world, gender balance, and the concept of belonging. Her ongoing inspirations include mythology, the societal roles of women, environmental concerns, family dynamics, and the often-overlooked unpaid labor of women and mothers. This multifaceted approach allows her to address complex themes while fostering meaningful conversations within her audience.
