Artist statement

I am a self-taught artist, born in Kinshasa, D.R. Congo, and now based in Halifax, NS, Canada. My work blends figurative realism with stylized symbolism, drawing on Neoclassical influences and Afrocentric aesthetics. Through confident brushwork, vivid palettes, and balanced compositions, I explore themes of identity, serenity, and cultural belonging. As both a cultural bridge-builder and visual philosopher, I use art to invite viewers into into thoughtful conversations about serenity, identity and introspection. My practice exists at the intersection of diasporic African identity and global intellectualism, celebrating heritage while speaking to universal human experiences.
