Artist statement
I’ve been letting material experimentation guide my practice, often moving between figuration and abstraction. This way of working lets me explore awkwardness and uncertainty, while also exposing the inherent psychological act of painting itself. I’m also motivated by narrative, looking to tropes while questioning how certain stories influence reality over time. Formally, I’m curious about composition, how line functions and how each mark works together to inform narrative and emotion. Ultimately my practice considers how identity forms out of absence and how personal mythologies intersect with broader storytelling traditions.
