Artist statement

Mr. Normal (b. 1988) is a Brooklyn-born contemporary artist whose work focuses on restraint, simplicity, and giving each element on the canvas room to exist. In Blue Eye, the eyes become the center of attention, surrounded by loose lines, open space, and a limited use of color. Rather than filling every part of the canvas, Mr. Normal allows individual features and symbols to carry their own weight. His approach encourages viewers to slow down and notice the details we often overlook. Through expressive figures and familiar visual language, he explores identity, observation, emotion, and the beauty of keeping things simple.
