Lives and works in New York, NY, USA

Artist statement

I begin my studio practice with long walks, collecting and contemplating ways we are interconnected. Walkingscapes is the latest series I am working on, exploring the landscape as a source of discovery, while aiming to capture the spirit as it transcends through the land. It is often said that to understand life, one needs not to look any further beyond nature itself. I am turning to nature to understand the self, and to understand time and our small place within it. Within this series, I am working to translate and transfer this experience through a series of installation sized cyanotypes. Cyanotype is a photographic technique from 1842, in which sunlight is used as a light source to expose the photographs, and water is used to develop them. As the strength of the sun varies throughout the day, the saturation within the prints shifts accordingly, allowing for an additional collaboration between myself and the environment.
