Artist statement
Nikos Probst's artistic work and research focuses on reflecting and engaging with an increasingly technologically diversifying and automating world. In his works, he uses new imaging and materialization processes to create reflexive moments in which the over-complexity of man-made progress is visualized through artistic creation. Underlying this approach is the idea that artistic creation has always been a practical engagement with the status quo of technological and industrial developments and the social changes that accompany them. Specifically, he tries to capture the automated and invisible processes of new media technologies and make them sensually comprehensible and tangible. He is currently working on the influence of artificial intelligence in sculptural form-finding processes.
