Lives and works in New York City, NY
Artist statement
My abstract works on paper and board, are built on the study of color interaction and geometric form, yet push that modernist invention into new territory by introducing material tactility and gestural expression. Working with emotion and play, I expand on hard-edge structures with layeredtextures, torn papers, fabric fragments, and found materials. This fusion creates perceptual depth, inviting the viewer to engage not just intellectually, but sensorially and emotionally. The often loosely rectangular structures resembling childlike freedom of creation seasoned with life experience remain my anchor. However, the visible creases, frayed edges, and physical presence of the materials introduce imperfection, tactility, physical presence, and human touch, transforming the works from a purely optical phenomenon to something more profound. Color relationships that might feel restrained in minimalist geometric work gain new emotional resonance when they interact with these textured surfaces. What emerges is art that feels both grounded in modernist philosophy and yet unmistakably contemporary.
