Artist statement

Artist Statement My work explores the interior and exterior landscapes of human experience. Through figurative paintings, landscapes, and architectural subjects, I investigate memory, identity, belonging, and the quiet emotions that often remain unspoken. Growing up in Lahore and now living in the United States, I carry two places within me. This dual perspective influences how I see the world and informs my paintings. Historic architecture becomes a vessel for cultural memory, while figures become reflections of inner emotional states rather than portraits of specific individuals. Landscapes offer moments of stillness where nature becomes a metaphor for resilience, healing, and contemplation. Working primarily in acrylic and oil paints, I combine careful observation with expressive mark-making to create paintings that feel both intimate and timeless. Rather than offering definitive narratives, I invite viewers to bring their own experiences into the work, allowing each painting to become a place of personal reflection and emotional connection. Ultimately, I hope my work encourages viewers to pause—to recognize fragments of themselves in the spaces, faces, and atmospheres I create.
