Lives and works in Doha, Qatar

Artist statement

I am an interdisciplinary conceptual artist whose work bridges spirituality, collective history, and community. Through paintings, installations, prints, video, and social practice, I explore themes of decolonization, migration, and belonging—often through the lens of my experience as a first-generation Black American Muslim with Afro-Caribbean roots. My projects, including Close to Home (2024 solo exhibition at Queens Museum, NY), reimagine domestic and communal spaces as sites of reflection, cultural memory, and sacred gathering. Drawing on Islamic cosmology, archival research, and diasporic traditions of hospitality, I create immersive environments that invite audiences to slow down, engage deeply, and reflect on the aesthetics and ethics of care. Through my work, I invite audiences to challenge boundaries, embrace radical imagination, and connect with one another in spaces of beauty, presence, and possibility.
