Lives and works in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
Artist statement
I paint the ways we find belonging within a changing world. In my Quiet Guardians series, Canada geese move through forests, water, boats, gardens, and places shaped by human presence. Their watchfulness and shared movement offer a language for migration, resilience, and care. Growing up near the Black Sea taught me to turn to landscape for comfort and questions. In British Columbia, the birds and shorelines around me became companions in making sense of a new home. I paint them as participants in a living network: each presence affects the others, and protection can take the form of attention. Working in acrylic, oil, and mixed media, I layer colour, texture, and recognizable symbols to hold stillness alongside movement. A boat can be shelter or passage; a reflection can carry both memory and possibility. These paintings ask how we remain open to one another and to the living world when the way forward is uncertain.
