Artist statement

My practice is the result of my interest in the physical world as an outcome of human nature. I attempt to understand creation and destruction as acts that form and deform what we regard as space. I also aim to deepen our understanding of ways to imagine, build, perceive, use, and destroy this space. From this core concept, I explore intersections with related ideas such as the notion of structure, sculpture as a formal study of space, the objectiveness of geometry as opposed to the expressiveness of the human body, the philosophical statements found in science fiction throughout its proposed utopian and dystopian futures and the reasons why they never came to be. I turn to the production of images to assimilate and recompose my own reality in a structured way. My plastic process starts with photography but it expands at times to mediums that force my hand into becoming an output device; acrylic paint, graphite pencils and collage techniques.
