Artist statement
Pedro Torres structures his artistic practice around the notion of time, which leads him to engage with fundamental questions of our reality, such as perception and the relationship between observer and space. Through a variety of media and techniques, Torres’s projects are conceptually driven yet visually compelling proposals, in which reflection on the representation and perception of the many folds of time is intertwined with a strong interest in the possibilities of the image, language, and materiality. Taking scientific concepts as the point of departure for some of his artistic investigations, Torres moves beyond purely technical interpretations and creates sensory environments in which audiences navigate shifting spaces and meanings. His exhibitions function as metaphorical devices that intuitively bring together theory and poetry, appealing directly to viewers and their individual experience.
