Lives and works in Norway
Artist statement
Lin, Pei-Han is a multidisciplinary artist whose research-based works encompass painting, moving images, sculpture, textile, video, architecture, installation, sound, and text. She is doing site research between politics, environmental justice, and human rights. She combines analog and digital data forensics and uses protest and vulnerability investigations as her aesthetic. Lin’s methodologies initiate from empathy and include interview-based formats, computation, and 3d printing. Lin is dedicated to exploring the intersections of culture, memory, and identity, inviting viewers to engage in critical dialogue and deep reflection on the complexities of cultural heritage and collective memory. Through immersive experiences and thought-provoking narratives, she integrates elements from various regions, amplifying marginalized voices and challenging contemporary social phenomena. Her art demonstrates the potential of art as a tool for political protest, revealing the shared colonial experiences and cultural erasure faced by marginalized communities, while sparking discussions on contemporary cultural identity, human rights, and external influences. Lin holds a B Arch in Architecture Design from Shin Chien University in Taipei, Taiwan, and MFAs from the Art Academies in Trondheim and Tromsø, Norway. Her works exhibited across Norway and internationally, including Temautstilling, Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall, Arendal (Norway, 2024), The Sami Centre for Contemporary Arts, Karasjok...

- Die (臺) i (語) ng in Fovsen-Njaarke/ If I were standing in your shoes , 2023. Rice paper written in my grandfather’s colonial history, bamboo sticks, sticks collected from the forest, 3D-printed porcelain Sámi shoes, glazed with natural clay from Trondheim, Tromsø, and Taiwan. The sound recording features Lin Pei-Han and Carl-Johan Utsi in the video background, wind turbines sound installed under the black cube that immerses the audience, allowing them to hear and feel the vibrations inside the installation. 2.8x2.8x4m, 5m long.
- The flag isn’t waving, it ‘s heavy , 2025. 3D-printed silk PLA^1 sculpture, 60 × 120 × 20 cm. This sculptural work deconstructs the colors of the Taiwanese/KMT flag through Huang Rong-can’s print The Horrifying Inspection (1947), embedding them into a physical form that commemorates the 228 Massacre of 1947. My grandfather survived the KMT’s martial law period. Transforming a symbol of imposed authority into a weighted object of remembrance, the work confronts colonial trauma and reclaims narrative space through material resistance.
- Collective Memory Waves , 2025. A full-space installation measuring 555 × 335 × 320 cm, featuring 270 handwritten newspapers created by students from Dazhi High School in Taipei, where I once studied. I co-designed the curriculum with the art teacher, based on students’ interviews with their grandparents about their wartime memories. The work reconstructs collective memory through intimate intergenerational storytelling across nine mixed reality (MR), expanding the narrative into virtual space and inviting the audience to navigate through layered personal and cultural histories.
- Imbalanced Yin and Yang , 2026. wood, glass, resin, ceramic, PLA and metal wires 484 x 260 x240 cm
