Artist statement
Hello! My name is Rae Pleasant and I am an African American woman artist living in North Texas. I create artwork for my own enjoyment and share it with diverse, multi-generational audiences in community spaces. I use recycled and economical materials to create an eclectic collection of illustrations, paintings, two-dimensional sculptures, and textile art. I am inspired by my heritage, personal memories, my immediate surroundings and experiences, nature, and imagination. Aspects of the body that may reflect in my work are my low vision, gallbladder disease, female health, and short stature of 4ft 11in! Thank you for taking the time to view my work. Please do not reproduce or replicate. My work is not permissible for AI.
