Artist statement
Digital creations have given me the chance to express my perceptions about the isolation of human condition when facing illness, poverty, old age or death. I am interested in everyday people in my hometown. When I photograph them I always try to be undercover. I want spontaneity and by no means “posed” photos. I always take the photos in long shot. Taking the picture is the first step, later on, with a digital design package I remove all unwanted visual information leaving only the main character, then I add simple elements: a blue sky, the moon, clouds or reminiscences of ancient ruins. Through this process I add drama to the subject and I give a metaphysical meaning to human activities. I am just an observer I do not blame social injustice or supernatural causes for disadvantageous human conditions.
