Artist statement
Nature is swayed only by itself. It is a complexity of give, take, feed, die, produce, and decay, impartial in its actions. I am awed by the power of consistent change, where all elements are in constant conversation, fluctuating in favor of the moment. My work reflects my experiences over the years of living in the wilderness and my intimate knowledge of nature’ s interactions with itself. I seek to respond to color, line and form the way nature responds to itself, given all its infinite variables- the weight of the mountain, the slope of the ridge dropping into the valley, the flow of air and water over deep bedrock and boulder, the sudden rush of the osprey’s dive for fish, the pull of gravity on a tree branch reaching toward the sky. Nothing in Nature is banal. It is a constant inspiration.
