Artist statement
For me, painting is a form of thinking that fuses knowledge of materials, fascination with surface qualities, and an obsession with color. My paintings begin with the construction of a mold around a linen-wrapped panel, creating a contained space in which the painting is formed. Each painting develops in a single session within the brief window that the resin remains fluid. Successive pours spread and displace one another, generating the cellular structures that define the work. Varying opacities allow the material to hold light, creating luminous depth beneath the reflective surface. The same mold-making process extends into my sculptures, where resin is cast in defined forms rather than accumulated across a surface. Freed from the mold, the translucent material retains the geometry of its container while maintaining a sense of liquidity and gelatinous volume. Throughout the work, fluid processes become fixed structures that retain evidence of their formation. This transmutation of materials remains central to my practice.
