Artist statement

These are photographs I took of a building in Tel Aviv. I was drawn to the neatly hung laundry contrasting the run-down building. I printed the photos onto textiles and sewed other textile remnants onto them. Later I learned this building was destroyed by rocket fire from Hezbollah in Lebanon. When I looked into why they did this I found out that it had nothing to do with territory but with the fact that Hezbollah wants to "obliterate" Israel. I found this surprising and very sad. The photographs mark a site of human caring and nurturing though carefully hung laundry but now these photographs also represent the hopelessness of hate and destruction.
